Testimony
I was born May 23, 1957 to Robert and Ruth Pilgrim. For the first 20 years of my life, I cannot remember going to church except once or twice to bible school when some people from a local church picked me and my siblings up. I knew very little about God and the Bible but I always felt something or someone pulling me towards a Creator.
As I got older, I met a few people that said they were Christians, but their life did not reflect what my thoughts of a true believer in Christ should be. Many times, I would belittle and ridicule these Christians but deep down I always wanted to find someone that truly lived what they believed. But I could not find any.
When I was 20 years old, I met a young man that I worked with that would invite me to church. I watched him everyday in hopes that he would turn out to be like all the other so-called Christians that I had met in my life. This young man not only lived a Christian life before me, but he also truly cared about my soul. He would invite me to church, but I would always come up with an excuse why not to go. He never gave up and because he was a friend, I would break down and go occasionally.
On November 6, 1977, on a Sunday night at East Rome Baptist Church, the Holy Spirit of God moved on my heart and I gave my heart and soul to the Lord Jesus Christ. I have followed Him from that day forward and although I am not a perfect man, I have been washed by the blood of Jesus Christ, and I am going to spend eternity with my Lord.
